Do The Rich Pay Their Fair Share?
Posted on February 10th, 2012 No commentsAccording to all the latest media headlines, the rich in the United States need to be taxed more because they pay a lower tax rate than their secretaries. Is this really true?
Well, here are the facts based on the latest data I could find from the 2009 Federal Individual Income Tax Data provided by the IRS. The average tax rate for all taxpayers is 11.06%. The Top 1% is 24.01%. The top 5% is 20.46%. The top 10% is 18.05%. The top 25% is 14.68%. The top 50% is 12.5%. The bottom 50% is 1.85%. Are you starting to see a pattern here? According to actual, real data, the rich are paying a much higher percentage of taxes than all other income groups. In fact, the top 25% income earners paid 87.3% of our total tax bill in 2009! Why doesn’t the media tell us that?

Bush Tax Cuts – Percentage of Tax Liability by Income
Posted on February 1st, 2012 No commentsThe media has everyone fooled. The rich did receive a tax break under the Bush tax plan, as did everyone else, but to see the complete picture, one needs to dig further into the numbers and look at the percentage of tax liability shared by each income group. The following chart clearly shows that those in the higher income brackets are currently paying a higher share of the tax burden than before the Bush tax cuts.
Sure the top 20% income earners received a nice tax break. They make most of the money. But, what many fail to realize is their share of tax liability rose from 78.7% before the Bush tax plan to 81% under the Bush tax plan. So, the top 20% income earners now pay 81% of the total tax bill.

Started 2012 With a Bang!
Posted on January 1st, 2012 No commentsKyle and I ventured out this morning to attempt to catch a few New Year’s carp to start our fishing adventures for 2012. We had a little car trouble as we were getting to our fishing hole, but we were able to continue on and made it OK.
It didn’t take long for me to land my first carp of 2012. Shortly after that, I had another. Then Kyle landed his first carp, while I landed yet another at the same time. Our first double of 2012!
We had constant action all morning. We landed over 14 carp within the 3 1/2 hours we fished. The carp were small, but still fun to catch. Happy New Year! – Eric
